Dr. Roland Schegg ist Dozent am Studiengang Tourismus der Fachhochschule Westschweiz Wallis in Siders und Forschungskoordinator am Institut für Tourismus. Zwischen 2000 und 2004 war er Dozent an der Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL). Seine aktuellen Forschungsinteressen liegen im Studium der neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien in der Tourismusindustrie (online Vertrieb, Websitequalität, mobiles Internet, Web 2.0). Andererseits beschäftigt er sich auch mit Fragen im Bereich der Nachhaltigkeit im Tourismus, mit einem besonderen Bezug zum Thema Energiemanagement in der Hotellerie.
